The Deej’s Background
I guess I could have an “About Me” section like everyone else listing all the companies that I worked at and use a bunch of buzz words that mean nothing except maybe to a bee.
The thing is I never was much like anyone else. Maybe you are the same way.
My family gave me your typical immigrant, small business owning type of upbringing. We worked in the family store before and after school and learned not only the business but how to communicate with grown-ups.
My first business was a Butcher shop in NJ when I was 18. It was converted into a Deli (D.J’s Country Deli) and I had it for 8 glorious years. Then I sold it and moved to Atlanta as a Stockbroker and learned to sell like an animal.
Wanting to get back on my own I started and built up to sell a Pest Control Company, then a Lawn Care Company, then a truck rental business. In all of these ventures my responsibility was the sales for, and growth of the businesses.
You may have noticed that my resume does not include College. My real education came in the form of an eight month hitchhiking trip around the United States on America when I was 22 years old. I travelled with no money and no plan. The idea was to get jobs along the way and meet as many people as possible.
The trip taught me most of the sales and human relation skills that I use today and will share with you.
In a way, I am still on this trip and I would love to meet you.
